Snap On Smile "Dentures" by Dr Chan Joon Yee The Snap-On Smile is a revolutionary form of cosmetic removable denture. Unlike conventional dentures, a Snap-On Smile is capable to masking or changing the appearance of the supporting teeth. Like a bridge, it goes over the patient's exisiting teeth. Unlike fixed bridges, no trimming of teeth is required and the prosthesis is removable by the patient. When teeth are severely worn out, resulting in the mouth overclosing and the angle of the jaws looking squarish, the treatment that is usually indicated would be a full mouth reconstruction with crowns. This is a costly and tedious process. With Snap-On Smile, the patient can opt for a set of very thin (0.5mm) "shell dentures" that go over the exisiting worn out teeth. Unlike dentures, you don't have to extract your wornout, shortened teeth before you can wear these "dentures". The Snap-On Smile goes over your natural teeth, building up bulk where it's missing, masking discolouration and enhancing appearance. It's like a wearable, removable set of veneers, crowns or even bridge. A Snap-On Smile can be used to replace missing teeth like a denture or bridge does. It can be made to work like a removable bridge. Wear it when you're going out, take it off and clean it when you're at home. It stays in your mouth with support from other teeth. There is no uncomfortable denture plate. You can visualise it as a kind of dracula teeth that you wear to frighten people, except that these snap-ons are more comfotable and make you look better. Don't get too excited after watching these videos. In spite of all its benefits, the Snap-On Smile will not work (as a denture/bridge) for people with too many missing teeth. As in the case with fixed bridges, the remaining supporting teeth must be healthy and not mobile (shaky). Any changes made to the remaining teeth may render a Snap-On Smile useless. This system is not as adjustable as dentures. My personal recommendation is to use it as an alternative to full mouth reconstruction which may cost $14,000 or multiple veneers which may cost just as much. Do take note that the Snap On Smile will add bulk to your teeth. For those whose teeth are already protruding, it will not help reduce protrusion.
