Australians form the majority of our overseas patients. Tiger Airways now flies from Darwin and Perth. You can check out their website for the flight schedules when you plan your visit to Singapore.

Orchard Medical Specialists Centre #05-42, Lucky Plaza

Welcome to Singapore, the Land of Sheltered Walkways. We have a great public transport network, cheap (and hygienic) street food and a national library found nowhere else in Asia. There aren't many must-sees in Singapore, but this is one Asian country that is orderly, speaks English and offers Western standards of medical services.

Hi, I'm Dr Chan Joon Yee (not related to Jackie Chan), but also a somewhat atypical and adventurous Chinese Singaporean who doesn't always want to walk under sheltered walkways. In fact, I'm a backpacker who enjoys Himalayan treks and visits to inspiring Third World countries. Though I don't like Foster Beer, Australians form the majority of overseas patients I treat.

We started Hougang Dental Centre way back in 1991 at a housing estate in Singapore called Hougang. We have been providing general dental services until recent years when we started to focus on cosmetic dentistry. We now have a new office located in the heart of Orchard Road in Singapore. We can do a whole range of general or cosmetic dental procedures including implants at our new facility. We are also able to provide sedation for anxious patients who want to sleep through their dental procedure. We are now called New Age Cosmetic Dentists.

You may find it most cost-effective to travel to Singapore for crowns and bridges. We can do normal porcelain fused to metal crowns and bridges at only S$500 per unit. We can also do branded stuff like Empress®, Cercon® or the latest Emax® crowns and bridges. The approximate time required for most fixed partial restorations is 7 working days. Most crown/bridge cases will take 2 visits over 7 to 10 days. Implant restorations may take about 3 weeks. Just tell us which system (Bicon, Nobel, Camlog etc) was used. We can place in an abutment and crown for S$1000-S$1800 per unit.

We have also done gum plastic surgery and placed provisional crowns in just one visit. Of course, the patient would be seen in 3-6 months' time for her final restorations. Emax crowns cost S$650 while full ceramic Cercon bridges cost S$700 per unit.

We have done complete dentures for Australian patients in 12 days. Complete upper and lower dentures, completed in 3 weeks and 4 visits, cost S$800. We charge an additional S$100 for 12-day completion.

1. Day 1: First impression
2. Day 2: Bite registration & master impression
3. Day 8: Trial dentures
4. Day 12: Issue Denture

We've also had an American patient who took out all his upper teeth at our surgery under sedation on 7th December and had his full dentures issued on 20th December. Of course, these cases may require temporary soft liners. Subsequent follow ups and relines will be necessary after the patient has gone home.

We can also do chairside bleaching or the take home DIY kit (with customised trays) in 1 hour. We only do the take home kit nowadays. It costs only S$400, about one-third the cost in the UK as informed by our British patients. Our office at Orchard is easily reached by MRT from Changi Airport Terminal 2. We've had transit passengers pick up a bleaching kit from us while they waited for their connecting flight. To get here, just click the "route maps" icon below.
