In 1990, Dr Chan started operating his own clinic at Tampines with a partner. A year later, Dr Chan left the partnership at Tampines, took over Hougang Dental Centre (Blk 631 Hougang Ave 8) and has been practising solo there from 1991 to 2007. The new practice in Orchard was set up in 2006 to create an environment more conducive for the practice of implant dentistry and cosmetic, anti-aging dentistry.

A general practitioner familiar with the needs of both heartlanders and jet-setters, Dr Chan is especially interested in cosmetic dental services which include tooth whitening (Excel Day White), full ceramic crowns (emax, zirconia), bridges (zirconia) and aesthetic implant restorations like Bicon Integrated Abutment Crowns. To keep abreast with the latest developments, Dr Chan is very active in continuing education programmes both locally and overseas.

Dr Chan has a keen interest in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM). He frequently consults TCM experts on alternative therapies. He is also a certified acupuncturist holding a graduate diploma in Acupuncture. Apart from dental services, New Age Cosmetic Dentists also offers acupuncture treatment for some medical conditions.

Dr Chan also has an interest in fitness training, wilderness medicine, anti-aging science and exercise physiology. He speaks English, Mandarin, Hakka, Cantonese, Hokkien and Malay. With Thailand being his second home, he also speaks Thai.

Outside the clinic, Dr Chan keenly pursues his interest in writing and adventure travel. He has trekked and climbed mountains in Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Nepal, India, Myanmar, Bangladesh, Pakistan and China. He is also an enthusiastic photographer and a collector of Tibetan/Buddhist artifacts. Dr Chan is married and has two sons.
